Comments from former town mayor: “There was a marker in Alba when I moved here from Canton in 1982. It was on the right side of the road coming north into Alba, near the 35 mph speed limit sign. When I became mayor, we commissioned a person to repaint the sign. It was stolen within a short time.  The original sign read something like this: ‘ALBA named for a cathederal town in Italy.  Founded in 1803.’ That sign has been gone for over 20 years.”
